Since her time as the iconic Rachel Green on “Friends,” Jennifer Aniston has secured her spot as an A-list celebrity among her Hollywood peers. Aniston has baffled fans in the nearly two decades since the show’s season finale as she’s maintained a youthful glow well into middle age. The actor has fans wondering how it is, exactly, that she keeps her appearance. The answers lie with the star’s longtime facialist, Melanie Simon.

In a recent conversation with Who What Wear, Simon revealed some of her most valuable secrets to maintaining healthy, youthful skin. The facialist to the stars is the mastermind behind the ZIIP, a product she developed after becoming interested in the benefits of incorporating electricity into skincare routines. “When I hit my twenties, I developed extra cystic acne and a melasma mask. I went to get a microcurrent facial and noticed it helped with both,” Simon told Who What Wear. “It is a microcurrent/nano current skincare tool that has the ability to change its output to any of 10 different electrical cocktails that I have created over the years. They range from sculpting and lifting facials to treatments for acne and melasma. Believe me: They all work. I use mine at the bare minimum of one time per week; max three.”

Skincare should be clean and simplez

Throughout her years as a skincare professional, Simon has become well-versed in the secrets behind a near-flawless complexion. And she is happy to share some of her secrets with the world. Simon doesn’t believe in overcomplicating things when it comes to skincare. She says, “You don’t need to aggressively exfoliate your skin with peels or over-cleanse to get clear and glowing skin. Your skin is a living, breathing organ, and you do have to alter what you do on a day-to-day basis depending on what shape it’s in.” Luckily, the celebrity skincare guru has some advice.

When it comes to products, Simon has a few that she loves. She swears by Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream. If you find yourself thinking that high-quality skin products are out of your budget, this one will surprise you. The all-in-one cream will cost you around $16 on Amazon, as per Us Weekly.

“This is a great go-to at night for eyelids, the corners of your lips, and your neck,” Simon told Who What Wear. The cream can work well as a primer, an eye cream, and even a diaper rash cream for those who need a one-size-fits-all lotion. It’s additive and paraben-free and made from just six natural ingredients, making it a simple treat for your skin.

Melanie Simon has developed her own products

For cleansing, Simon swears by her ZIIP beauty device and her recommended products. She tells Who What Wear that Bioderma Sebium H2O is the way to go when it comes to washing your face. Coming with a price tag of $10, this product makes for an accessible addition to your routine. “This is my new favorite cleanser. It’s helped me and a lot of people counteract breakouts from masks and is not too mattifying,” Simon says, lauding this product as a go-to during COVID-19. Following a cleanse, Simon loves to exfoliate with Biologique Recherche Lotion P50V 1970, a combination exfoliant and moisturizer with a price tag of more than $100.

Simon’s go-to face mask, the Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask, comes with a bit of a higher price tag at $125, but you’ll be able to make this one last. She recommends adding it to your routine once every 10 days for optimal results. Skincare professionals have been stressing the importance of serums for years, and Simon has a few of her own favorites. If you’re looking to add a serum to your routine, she recommends Biologique Recherche Serum Elastine, Biologique Recherche Serum Matriciel Visage, and Melanie Simon Skincare Serum C.

She doesn’t skip makeup

Simon prefers a natural approach when it comes to makeup, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a few products up her sleeve to help her achieve her signature look. In an interview with Who What Wear, Simon recommends the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Face and Under Eye Concealer. She says, “I start with this around my eyes, nose, and chin. It’s so good and so buildable, I can use it as foundation. It is not opaque—it has a bit of a translucent element to it so it covers but lets the beauty of your skin shine through.” When she does use foundation, Simon ops for Zelen’s Youth Glow Foundation.

For “a beautiful contour without looking fake,” Simon loves a swipe of the Westman Atelier Face Trace Contour Stick followed by a bit of MAC Mineralize Blush and RMS Living Luminizer Highlighter for extra dimension. Highlighter application can be tricky, and Simon notes that all you need is “a bit on the lids, a bit on the chin, a bit on the bow of the lip.” For lashes, Simon tends to go for the ILIA Limitless Lash Mascara, or, for a bit more drama, she used Kiss magnetic lashes. As a maximalist in skincare and a minimalist in makeup, Simon has some of the best recommendations in beauty. If you take a page out of her book, you (and your skin) won’t regret it.
