Simone Biles has shared what it is like being in a ‘long distance’ marriage just five months after she wed NFL star Jonathan Owens.
The lovebirds tied the knot on April 22 and had a luxurious Cabo San Lucas wedding, but ‘less than a week later’ Jonathan, 28, got signed to the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin.
The Olympian, 26, is currently living in Spring, Texas, and confesses that the struggle of not seeing her husband regularly has ‘been different,’ however, she ‘cherishes the moments’ that the couple spends together.
The pair stays ‘busy and focused’ on their careers until they get the opportunity to be reunited once again.
‘He’s doing great out in Green Bay,’ Simone recently told TODAY.
The pair reunited briefly on September 2 and the newlyweds posted a picture of Simone’s hand on Jonathan’s, showing off their sparkly wedding bands.
She captioned the picture: ‘Back together again.’ He replied lovingly, ‘Back at home,’ with two heart emojis.
A day later the duo posted three pictures to showcase the progress being made constructing their mansion in Houston, Texas, alongside a caption that read: ‘Loading.’
The couple snapped a shot from above as they held hands while touring the property.
On August 15 Simone posted a picture of the lovebirds kissing during Jonathan’s game and captioned it: ‘Long distance isn’t easy but seeing you play your heart out is so worth it. I’m so proud of you baby.’
Simone shared that she’s in a positive headspace because she is ‘going to therapy’ and ‘making sure everything is aligned.’ She not only wants to be ‘the best in the gym,’ but be a ‘good wife, good daughter, good friend… all of the good things.’
One of the future ‘good things’ that she has her eye on is competing in the Paris Olympics during the summer of 2024.
The two met on the dating app Raya and it was Simone’s younger sister Adria who convinced her to reach out to Jonathan over direct message.
They began regularly talking and then Adria took Simone’s phone and invited him to a lake house – the rest is history.
Jonathan admitted in the beginning that he didn’t know who the notorious Olympian
was, however, she found that to be a refreshing.
One month after hanging out the two made it official. The pair got engaged in February 2022 and got married a year later.
