Filming for Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher has reportedly begun, which means the ever-growing fanbase can look forward to waves of exciting news in the near future. Given how Season 1 left Geralt and Ciri, it is likely that the two will appear at Kaer Morhen in Season 2, where — if the series continues to follow Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels — Ciri will begin her training.
According to Redanian Intelligence, two more actors have been added to the cast: Peaky Blinders‘ Paul Bullion and Dark Heart‘s Yasen Atour, who will be playing the witchers known as Lambert and Coën, respectively. The report also claims that each actor will appear in at least three episodes of Season 2, which indicates just how much time the show is likely to spend on events in Kaer Morhen, the home of the School of the Wolf.
As reported by Redanian Intelligence, The Witcher season 2 will introduce two witchers, Lambert and Coën, who will appear in three episodes. Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) will take on the role of Lambert, while Yasen Atour (Young Wallander) will play Coën. Both appeared in Sapkowski’s original novels, helping to train Ciri in combat while she lived at the witcher keep of Kaer Morhen. Lambert also appeared in The Witcher video games, having an antagonistic relationship with sorceress Triss Merigold.
Netflix’s The Witcher season 2 adding Lambert and Coën is indicative of the story diving deeper into the world’s lore and history of the different witcher schools. Both Geralt and Lambert hail from the School of the Wolf, which is based out of Kaer Morhen in the northern part of The Continent, but Coën belongs to the School of the Griffin, which is headquartered elsewhere. Since more witchers are joining the series in season 2, and not just witchers from the School of the Wolf, the audience may learn about what differentiates the schools and what kind of relationship the witchers from these schools have with each other.
Now that Geralt and Ciri are finally united, it’s been expected audiences will get to see what Kaer Morhen actually looks like in season 2 after being referenced a few times in season 1. In the source material, Geralt and Ciri live at Kaer Morhen while the latter trains in combat. This storyline was recently teased by Allen, who posted a photo of a sword to her Instagram, leading many fans to speculate the Cintran princess would be trained by Geralt and his fellow witchers in season 2. That appears to be all but confirmed with the addition of Lambert and Coën.
While the news of adding Lambert and Coën as new characters in The Witcher has excited many fans, there are still two important characters missing from the lineup: Geralt’s mentor Vesemir and his friend Eskel. Both are integral parts of Geralt’s history as a witcher. Now that Bullion and Atour’s roles have been reportedly revealed, news on the potential actors playing Vesemir and Eskel is sure to follow soon, especially as filming begins on The Witcher season
